The East Shore of Kootenay Lake has many great spots to hit the beach in the summer time and most are only a 30-60 minute drive away from Creston. As the closest large lake to Creston, it is the go-to spot for many locals and has many attractions in addition to the water – most notably a plethora of very talented artisans.

There are a few established beaches such as Twin Bays, Lockhart Provincial Park (Camping, Hiking), Mackie Beach, Blue (Columbia) Point, and Sanca Creek. In addition to these, there are many less traveled areas and large pebble/sand beaches all the way from Kuskanook to the the north end of Kootenay Lake. A number of private campgrounds, bed and breakfasts, and cabins can be found in addition to the camping found at Lockhart Park Provincial Park.
