Rising over the wetlands and Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area, Balancing Rock Trail is the go-to quick hike in the Creston Valley. The trail offers panoramic views of the Creston Valley, the Town of Creston, and the Skimmerhorn Mountains. It’s a quick and somewhat challenging jaunt to the aptly named balancing rock at the end of the trail. Part way up there is a bench that provides the primary viewpoint.
Hikers looking for a longer adventure can continue along the trail to a small wetland located on a bit of a plateau past balancing rock. Here you have the option to continue up Creston Mountain, or descend down to Summit Creek, making the trail nearly (but not quite) a full loop.
